My family immigrated to Canada in the 1980s for the purpose of providing a better future for my siblings and me. What is your educational background? What courses have you completed and what jobs have you held? I hold two degrees in Organizational Management and Economics. What factors led you to enter the field of politics in Canada? I have been interested in politics since childhood and have been an active member of the Progressive Conservative party since 1993. The most prominent reason behind my involvement in politics was my desire to contribute positively to the community through policies and initiatives that improve the lives of the people.
Do you have any advice for people in Iran who are considering immigrating to Canada? Canada is a diverse and welcoming country, but immigration is a major life change. Prepare as much as possible by learning about Canadian culture, job markets, and language requirements. Remember, it may take time to settle and find a sense of community, but there are numerous resources and organizations dedicated to helping newcomers succeed. What usually surprises immigrants after they arrive in Canada? Immigrants are usually surprised to see the cultural diversity in Canada and the ability to preserve their cultural identity as well as the ability to practice their language with pride. However, adjusting to the colder climate is often a challenge! As an immigrant, what do you think about immigration policies and support for immigrants in Canada? Canada has a proud tradition of welcoming people from all over the world, and immigration has always been an essential part of our country’s identity and economic strength. The approach to immigration aims to support newcomers as they settle and contribute to our communities. At the same time, it is important to balance the commitment to those arriving with the needs and resources of our communities.
What challenges and opportunities are there in the way of entering politics in Canada? The biggest opportunity for entering politics in Canada would be to start volunteering in the community to get better acquainted with organizations and initiatives that work to improve the community. Gaining a good understanding of people’s demands and needs is essential as a prerequisite for anyone striving to enter politics in Canada. When was the last time you visited Iran? Do you have any memorable experiences from that trip? I do not recall visiting Iran ever since my family immigrated to Canada. How do people react when they find out you are Iranian? Iranians often express their kind appreciation of being able to speak to me in Farsi to discuss their ideas and concerns. What are your thoughts on the increasing migration of Iranians to Canada? What aspects of Canada attract them? More Iranians are choosing to immigrate to Canada because they are looking for opportunities at building a brighter future for themselves and their children.
