What are the most enjoyable and the most challenging aspects of working in politics? The most enjoyable part is helping people and making a positive difference. The most challenging aspect is addressing complex issues that don’t have easy solutions and balancing multiple perspectives. What are you plans and goals for your professional and political future? As the Minister of Children, Community, and Social Services, I aim to continue advocating for meaningful policies for the well-being of youth and all Ontarians seeking support for social services. I also aim to continue representing my constituents at the Provincial Parliament.
In your opinion, what role will immigrants play in the future of Canada? How can they contribute to the country’s development? Immigrants bring unique perspectives, innovation, and resilience, all of which drive economic growth and strengthen communities. Canada’s future depends on the contributions of its immigrant population. What advice do you have for immigrants who want to succeed in Canadian society? Stay true to your roots but be open to learning and adapting. Network, seek support, and don’t hesitate to take part in community activities. Your voice and experiences add value to Canada. What advice do you have for young Iranian-Canadians who want to enter politics in Canada? Get involved in community work, volunteer, and learn as much as you can. Canada’s political landscape values diversity, so your background and ideas are needed. What message do you have for the people of Iran? I have much respect for the resilience and strength of the Iranian people. Please know that I stand with you shoulder to shoulder as you seek justice, peace, and freedom. Is there a question we haven’t asked that you would like to discuss? I would like to emphasize the importance of civic engagement. Whether it’s voting, volunteering, or staying informed, everyone has a role in shaping their communities and supporting a stronger society. What is your opinion about POL Magazine? POL Magazine plays an important role in our community by promoting dialogue around the topics that matter most. It’s publications like these that keep the Iranian Canadian community informed, engaged, and inspired.
Where do you see yourself in Canada in the next ten years? In ten years, I hope to be in a position where I can influence positive change through dedicated service to my community. If you could go back in time, would you still choose the same profession and path? Absolutely. While there are challenges, the opportunity to serve and make a difference in people’s lives is worth it. What is your motto in life? “Service above self.” It is a constant reminder that my work is about making life better for others.
